Art Video: The Life Of Piby ~NitelyHallow

EDIT 12/29/2012 : I can't believe someone like me could ever be recognized when a couple years back, I was that person who just browsed galleries and admired art, and occasionally uploaded a drawing or two. This community has been wonderful to me, I owe it all to those who've encouraged me to upload more and to those who's work I admire and fave. I especially have to give thanks to all those artists who take the time to make tutorials+brush packs for us "aspiring newbies". This truly means the world to me!! Thank you to TorazTheNomad for suggesting this piece and Lyricanna for featuring it!! <3.

Approx. 36 hours total (Used Paint tool Sai and Photoshop)

Thoughts:
~~~~This was by far not what I expected the end to look like....I guess this book let my imagination run wild lol.
~~~~There were few references I used for the tiger and the general shape of the flying fish and turtle, however I ended up not using them and completely warped it all. I guess the references from the book are what I should really give credit too

~~~~The sun resembles the " blistering heat" and the swirling of the sun symbolizes the "hallucinations" Pi had gone through. Hallucinations are in the mind itself, which is why that part of the illustration is between the eyes. Most of this illustration was done unintentionally. There is so much too this illustration that i myself cant really explain it in words. Many layers to this book.
~~~~ The ending of the book really broadened my horizon.

Overall, It was worth a shot to illustrate it. Hope you all enjoy!

Wow, you really knocked this one out the park!! It's so full of movement and emotion, it's a lot to take in all at once. The colors are so vivid and vibrant without being overwhelming and the shapes are fun and interesting to look at. Excellent work and very well deserved DD!! Congratulations!
